Climbing to the Peak only to Slip and Fall
After an awesome start to the week, which included attending all training sessions, begininng a new diet and getting into uni everything seemed to be locked in high gear, but soon the transmission imploded and the week fell apart. This included not training 3 days in a row, pigging out on food and not studying. However this has prompted me to again look to rebuild. I am getting back onto my immdeiate focus Gamsat, a psyc essay due soon after and the mooloolaba tri after that. I believe I found the secret to my success is to be prepared well so I can transition from one aspect to another smoothly. this is big in the morning in the transition from sleep to going to training, I think I need to be 100% ready to leave the night before to ensure I do end up going to training. Anyway have cleaned up unit and am looking to get orgainsed for upcoming fortnight which is going to be intense but potentially rewarding if I do the background work right. Fire up the Cylinders!

The Evil Performance Wizard does the Disappearing Act
After almost a month of not swimming I had my first session. It was very disappointing. The Evil Triathlete Performance Wiard condured up a potion that sapped me of my speed, strength and stamina. I was struggling at the back again and got a pain in my shoulder which I haven' t had since my first couple of swim sessions. Need a lot of work to happen before Mooloolaba. On the brighter side I seem to have settled into uni life etc. Apart from a blow out lunch with mum (today is the commencement of my diet) and an hour wasted not studying due to droopy eyes I seem to manage to stay awake for a majority of lectures and kept diet in check. Weigh myself for the first time and found out I'd lost about 4 kgs which means I reckon I still have 5- 10 to go. I will take my measurements and update them every 3weeks to track my progress with the diet and back to full training. Pump it Out!

Problems stepping up a Gear
With being back at Uni, I have struggled this week to get up into the required gear. My engine has been spluttering in first when I should be in 3rd. Gamsat prep, my beloved Tri Training, Uni study have all went down the drain. However I can feel that my engine is starting to recover and am about to hit the ground running. Hopefully the catalyst for the gear change will be the new diet I got from my friend at work the sercurity/body builder/ personal trainer. Hopefully dieting will encourage me to train and the endorphins from training willl get me through Uni and hopefully the GAMSAT ticket will really fire up. Only 13 days until D-Day, nerves are starting really need to pump out a huge week this week and then a slightly smaller week the next week so not burnt out for the test. I think what I need to do is to get my bags etc sorted, get my old bike sorted with a new tube and perhaps I should write up a contract or something similar, hopefully the life coach will address these issues in up coming sessions. Pump It Up!!

New Pact of Stone
After a few days of poor motivation today I have gotten fed up with it and written down a pact to get my life back to my normal motivated self. The last few days have included driving the car when should've rode my bike, pigging out at Sizzler, missing Wednesday swim (haven't swam in 4 weeks), missing Wednesday transition session ( haven't been to that session for 3 weeks) and I think it is time if I'm going to be more successful and lose the remaining kgs to not miss any further sessions at least until Mooloolaba. Today I believe I have made ground in getting back to normal motivation although I slowed down this arvo. Up the upside, after being told by the coach that a Rory had missed a presentation at Bribie (Yes,my first race) I rechecked the results and sure enough I came 3rd in my age group for the Enticer length tri, which I am pretty surprised about and annoyed I didn't stick around for the trophy. Onto a more motivated horizon!

Weekend on Full Throttle!

What a weekend. Starting on Friday, I worked Friday night til 1am, did a 2 hour bike ride on Saturday from 6pm, went down the gold coast from 11am-2pm to rack my bike, worked till 10:30pm on the busiest night we've had all year, woke up Sunday at 3:40am had the Gold Coast Tri at 7:30am and then off to work again from 12pm to 8pm. Phhhewww! Man it was good to have a beer after work, felt I deserved it.
Saturday bike ride was pretty awesome. Awesome weather, you don't really realise how beautiful Brisbane is until you experiance it early morning on a good day(See photos). My bike ride involved testing whether it is possible to ride to work (from toowong to Hamilton). It is definately possible, even found a route to avoid a majority of Kingsford Smith Drive. However when considering what the roads would be like at peak hour and after a very close call on Breakfast Creek road I have decided for now not to ride.
Sunday's race (Gold Coast Luke Harrop Memorial Tri) felt good, bad and bloody hot. After runnning into some old school mates and waiting for our wave we finally got started. This trihad a deep water start, which was sort of different though it did result in less collisions. Felt very strong in the swim, most likely was not going very fast but compared to Bribie I was not intimidated by the swim. Had a very poor transition between swim and bike mainly involving socks, leaving me considering whether not to wear them next time. Onto the bike and away, but my legs were just not feeling the bike and by my on account I struggled, did not feel strong at all making me think that comparitively it will be my worst leg. However at least the water and wind kept me cool. Upon getting through transition fast, the immense heat that had built up hit me like a wall and soon it felt like running in an oven. Adjusting to the heat and muscles changing legs the first 1km or so was very slow . However after that I slowly got into it and with 1km to go felt strong again. I finished my first biggish tri, Boo-Yah. I had no time to muck around though as I had to piss bolt to make it to work in time. On the way to work I felt really energetic and was annoyed that I didn't use this unfound energy in the race even though I knew it was solely endorphin based. However like all stimulating hormones they eventually stop and this occured mid way through my shift. After struggling the remainder of the shift it was so good to finish for one hell of a weekend although extremely rewarding and relax. Peace Out!
